Proving imputation of income is at least a two step process

Although a parent’s motive in voluntarily quitting a job is relevant, it is but one factor in the determination of whether income should be imputed. Even if the parent leaves a job unwisely, ill-advisedly, or motivated by frustration or spite, the voluntary nature of the continued unemployment must be shown with proof that the parent is not making diligent, bona fide efforts to obtain reemployment. The party seeking to impute income bears the burden to show `both employability and that jobs are available.
